State Competition

Our Military officers won the title of State Champions and the team was awarded 1st Runner up to State Champions. We also had two ensembles in the medium and large categories bring home the titles of State Champions. The team brought home a total of 21 awards practically sweeping the entire competition. The award winning Lariaettes are known for their innovative style of dance. They have become a well rounded dance team that, not only performs at football games and other school events, but compete at dance competitions earning many awards. Throughout the year the team learns self discipline, respect, confidence, poise and the hard work necessary to produce quality performances.

The Lariaettes strive to support the community by participating in toy and food drives during the holiday season. The annual dance clinic, which is normally held in December, allows the team to teach future Lariaettes dance routines. Clinic participants are invited to perform at the Spring Show held in April.

The Lariaettes enjoy many social events throughout the year that give the team a chance to bond. Installation is the right of passage for “Babies” as the new girls and escorts are welcomed to the team. Bob and Sue is a father/daughter field routine allowing the Dads a chance to shine. Royal Ball is a formal event recognizing the team and their hard work. And finally, Mother/Daughter luncheon recognizes Moms and yearly awards are announced and next year’s officers are installed.

The year culminates in April with the annual Spring Show. Routines presented at competition, along with new dances, are the highlight of the show. Dance training and Dance II classes, along with dancers from community studios, drill teams and dance clinic participants also perform.

To become a Lariaette, you must have completed Dance training class in addition to trying out for the team in May. See your counselor if you are interested in the drill training class.

Junior boys and girls who are interested in dance can speak with the counsler about the opportunity to be enrolled in Dance 2 during their senior year. Dance 2 consists of girls and boys learning partnering type of dance. Senior girls do not have to be on the dance team to enroll in Dance 2.

Young men can also support the team by becoming a Lariaette Escort. Tryouts are in May. Escorts play an essential part of the Lariaettes by providing support at numerous team activities.
