Dobie High School was represented well last Saturday and Sunday in Albany, New York at the National Catholic League Tournament. With over 3,000 students from across the nation ready to do their best, Dobie’s five students gave the best showing they have in recent history. Competing in the first four rounds were Tramanh Hoang and Kevin Rodriguez in their duo, The Crayon Map; Erandi Trevino in a dramatic interpretation of The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks; and Kady Salazar in oral interpretation of literature of Splintering [poetry] and Fat [prose]. Catherine Green with her “King Burger” original oratory on stereotyping advanced through the octo-quarters, quarters, and semi-final rounds before being eliminated. As Tramanh put it, this makes Catherine, one of the twelve best orators in the nation, because only twelve students earned the right to competed in the semi-final round.
