The deadline to order a 2010 Dobie yearbook is Feb. 26. There are a limited number of books that are still available and they will be sold on a first come, first served basis. To purchase a yearbook, go to www.smart-pay.com or order directly through the school by emailing jswenson@pasadenaisd.org. The books are $65 and will be delivered on campus in May.

Eighteen Dobie Longhorn debaters enjoyed their foray into Texas City Stingray country last weekend, February 5-6, 2010. Twenty-two entries advanced into the individual events semi-final round and five Dobie students' earned the right to compete in the final's round. In debate, Dobie students compete in four styles: Congressional, Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and Policy. In Lincoln-Douglas debate, two students advanced to the octo-final rounds with records of two wins and 1 loss in the preliminary rounds; Ngocbao Le and Katherine Salazar. In Public Forum, the team of Charly Rodriguez and Thomas Ray Trevino also with a winning record of 2/1 advanced to the quarter-final round.
Advancing to the final's round in I.E.'s were Mylinh Tran [1st in Prose Interpretation], Thomas Ray Trevino [3rd in Novice Extemporaneous Speaking], Ricky Burke [5th in Impromptu Speaking], Gina Nguyen [5th in Prose Interpretation], and Alex Lacamu [6th in Dramatic Interpretation]. Alexander was a busy competitor participating in six different events: Policy debate, Novice Extemporaneous Speaking, Original Oratory, Humorous Interpretation, Impromptu Speaking, along with his work in DI. He broke to out rounds in NX, HI, and Impromptu in addition to his excellence in DI. Other Dobie students breaking to semi's were Kiara Harris [Poetry Interpretation], Kady Salazar [Poetry Interpretation and Prose Interpretation], Charly Rodriguez [Novice Poetry and Novice Prose], Thomas Ray Trevino [Impromptu Speaking], Michael Baez [Impromptu Speaking], Le Ho [Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking], Bao Le [Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking], Brianna Herman [Novice Prose Interpretation], and Chuong Luu [Novice Prose Interpretation].
